Best selling (Amazon) author J. Michael Dolan continues to augment a successful entertainment industry career, which has spanned over 40 years—covering all aspects of the business including performing, writing, publishing, producing and teaching.

In the ’70′s, Michael started Music Connection magazine, a National music business trade publication, commonly referred to as “the musician’s bible.” Music Connection magazine is found in bookstores and newsstands from coast to coast and is a hybrid of Music Connection Online which includes three popular websites: MC Front Page (the home page of Musicconnection.COM), MC Digital (the digital edition of the popular magazine) and AMP (a musicians social network with over 5000 members). Readership for Music Connection educational products is well over 100,000.

In the 80’s, when the music industry was thriving and musicians were lining up to get signed by the major record labels Michael created a complete series of music business seminars and workshops to educate both musicians and industry professionals. These events covered a wide variety of topics, including video production, music and the media, songwriting, record production, legal gymnastics, record company signing procedures and publishing. This led to the creation of The Music Industry Network. This pioneering venture grew to a paid membership of over 200 professional and semi-professional show business people who met religiously every other week to explore ways to “break through” career barriers and “network” their diversified talents in the entertainment industry. Michael led the organization for five consecutive years until its completion.

In the ‘90’s Michael wrote two books both published by Mulholland Pacific Publishing. The first book hit # 6 on Amazon’s Top 10 Best Seller list and was met with successful critical acclaim. Titled “How To Care For Your Aging Parents…And Still Have A Life Of Your Own” the book is based on thorough research, as well as Michael’s personal experiences caring for his own aging parents.

Michael’s second book titled “Mastering Showbiz…From The Heart” hit #16 on Amazon’s Top 20 Best Seller list and was met with successful critical acclaim. The book offers a plethora of insights on how to move miles ahead of the competition and produce extraordinary results in your professional career —with integrity!

For over 30 years, Michael has relentlessly pursued the study of psychology, philosophy and the development of the human spirit and in 1985 earned an accredited PhD in religious sciences. He has created and conducted hundreds of motivational seminars, workshops and classes, throughout North America, on a variety of subjects, and has appeared on several television and radio talk shows. He is also often asked to appear on TV news broadcasts as an “expert industry resource.” He has taught extensively in UCLA’s Extension program and is frequently invited to speak at various industry functions.

Today, Michael continues to conduct seminars, and consult with private companies and individuals regarding business strategies and career development.
